Website Address and How to Decide on One.

You’re Website Address, and how to decide on one is a very tough topic to tackle as there are multiple options here to consider. Do you want your company name as the website name? Do you want a keyword friendly domain name? How will people search for your company, product or service? Is your company already branded and established or are you just beginning? If you are already branded do enough people know about you to get you traffic to your website? The list goes on and on and on.

The first thing you should know is that just because your company name is established does not mean that you need to have people type that in the search bar for your web page to appear. There is the header of the web site that that you can put your business name on and that is what most people will do anyway.

If you’re not branded and have people searching directly for your company then chances are your company name is not the best choice for your website address. Put yourself in your customer’s shoes and think about what you would search for if you were them and looking for a product or service in your industry. Next you will want to brain storm on how to use what you searched for and write a list of short terms that your clients will use to look you up, the shorter the better however you will want to use those keywords. You should also make it easy to remember and not to similar to anyone else’s website name so you’re not sending them your hard earned business.

I’m sure by now you’re wondering why you would do this. Well the reason being is that if you are using keywords in your website name then when people are searching you could start to get your website to rank much faster. Now this is not a guarantee however, more times than not it does help quite a bit. You must remember that you are not going to see results right away, depending on your marketing approach to your web site and your marketing budget. You will need to market your new site in a constant and consistent manor. This means you should be very active in your social networks, get a blog and start doing posts as well as responding to others that may post on your blog as well. Another thing you will want to do is find related blogs that you can post and comment on regularly and leave links to your own web page.

When using the following tips you will need to understand you do not want to sound like your stuffing spam at people. No one wants to read your ad every time they log on to the computer and see something that leads to your web page. Just an FYI Google is not a fan of this either and will remove your information from their rankings after a while so you will be working to build up your website and all your hard work will be discounted. I would recommend using a professional for some or all of this depending on your budget but that is your choice to make and one you should really think about as well.

So a website address and how to decide on one is something everyone should think carefully about.  For more information on website tips andtricks click here.
